3 Quick (and Free) Ways to increase Facebook Page Likes

What Can I Do to Increase Facebook Page Likes?

These quick tips will help you increase Facebook page likes in a hurry. If you’re looking to increase the size of your group, Facebook likes are essentially currency. It’s how you build the network for your group to recruit people and raise money.

Many schools no longer allow flyers, and statistically, only about 20% of those flyers that even get to the schools ever get home to the kids. So how do you reach these people to get them into your great program? One way is through Facebook. And if you want people to see what you’re doing on Facebook, you need them to see what you’re posting – and to like your Facebook page.

People are more likely to sign their kids up for your Scouting unit if they’ve seen the great program you’re doing. It’ll help make them more comfortable with you.

So, how do you get people to like your page?

Ask them!

(Before I tell you these three tips, let me be clear that all of this is based on you having good, quality content that you’re posting on a regular basis. That’s the most important thing. So if you don’t have a good-looking Facebook page, with some pretty decent relevant content already, then make that happen first. Your page should reflect your Council, District, Troop, Pack or Crew – and be about you. 300 inspirational cat pictures won’t do you any good at all. You’re also going to make sure that you’re not violating your organization’s social media policies while posting. For the BSA, consult the Social Media Guidebook. For readers in other countries, you’ll need to consult with your country’s scout association.)

#1 Ask Your Facebook Friends

Hopefully, your Facebook friends like you. Hopefully, you share similar interests, and you tend to get along. It’s pretty likely that you know who among them would like your page if you asked. So invite them. You should certainly invite everyone in your pack or troop.

On the right hand side of your page, a little ways down, you’ll see a box marked “Community.”

It should look remarkably like the one below.

Click on the button, “Invite your friends,” and then, invite your friends to like your page. I told you this would be simple.

Now, share this idea with people in your scouting unit, and ask all of them to do the same.

#2 Ask People Who Like Your Pages Facebook Posts

It stands to reason that the people who like the things you’re posting on your page might like to see more from you in the future. They’re probably a pretty good candidate to either know someone who could join your group someday, or join themselves. So, here’s the five-second trick to inviting the good people who like what you’re posting to like your page.

Click on the number of likes.

You’ll then get a popup that will look something like this.

Then you click “Invite” to ask them to like your page.

Simple as that.

#3 Ask Your Email List

The last way for you to increase Facebook page likes is to import your email list. You may not be Facebook friends with everyone in your unit. If you’re managing a district of thousands of people, you’re certainly not going to be friends with all of them… but, if you’ve got their email address, you can still invite them to like your page.

You find the tab to invite email contacts on the top line of your Facebook page.

Then, it will ask you the format in which you want to import your list, and gives you a list of options. For most people, you’ll want to go with the simplest one, either from Outlook, or from an exported Excel list. You’ll need to make sure it’s in CSV format, which is one of the “Save As…” options in Microsoft Excel. (Make sure these are people who’ve willingly given you their email addresses. Don’t spam.)

Once imported, you’ll see a long list of the email addresses you imported, and you’ll have the option to select the ones you want to actually invite. Those with Facebook accounts matched up with the email address you’ve entered will see an invite on Facebook. The rest will get an email. You can see examples from my screenshot below.

Hit send, and you’re done.

I hope this helps you increase Facebook page likes for your Scouting unit, and in turn, this helps get more kids into the greatest program for character development program for youth in the history of the world.
